There are lots of places to visit but if you want to be central then we recommend the ultra modern car park in Festival Place. It has clever lights above each bay so you can easily see what spaces are unoccupied. The car park is easily tall enough for the T6.1 California Ocean.

Basing House

The remains of Basing House today consist of banks and ditches, cellars and broken walls. The only surviving structure is the Great Barn. The castle was originally built in the 1100s by the de Port family, who arrived with William the Conqueror in 1066.

Hundreds of years later, Sir William Paulet chose to build his new house on top of these castle remains in 1535 – making it the largest private house in England at the time with an impressive 360 rooms.

During its heyday, monarchs such as Henry VIII, Elizabeth I, Philip II and Queen Mary I visited and even honeymooned there after their marriage in Winchester.

Basingstoke walks

Basingstoke Canal is a hub for 13 different circular walks around this water way that connects Basingstoke to the River Thames

Whether you choose a 32 mile-long walk from Woodham to Greywell Tunnel, or try one of the shorter routes available, such as Brookwood Cemetery Circular, Odiham Circular or Basingstoke Canal Circular, there’s something for everyone.

Keen birdwatchers will be able to spot mallards and moorhens, while coots, great crested grebes and little grebes can be seen in the deeper sections. Herons often fish the Canal, and kingfishers, mute swans and Canada geese all breed here.

If you would like to combine walking with learning then you can experience the Basingstoke Heritage Trail.

Tracing the history from Domesday to the present day you'll learn about notable figures such as Jane Austin, Thomas Burberry and Oliver Cromwell.  Spare a thought for Mrs Blunden however, who was accidentally buried alive in 1674!

We love dogs, and they are welcome to come along and join in the adventure too in our dog-friendly campervans. The ‘Sprat's Hatch Lane’ dog walk is sure to keep your pooch both energised and interested.

This is a lovely 3 mile walk following a circular route.  It's mostly flat and gravelled but can get muddy underfoot after wet weather.

You’ll be thankful for the clever campervan features at the end of this walk to treat yourself to a mug of hot fresh tea or the powerful heating system to keep you feeling nice and cosy

Take a leisurely stroll around beautiful nearby Kempshott and Pardown (Oakley) in Hampshire, with good views of Basingstoke and northern Hampshire.

Enjoy the flat terrain and lush carpets of wild flowers during the springtime. When in season you can indulge in some blackberrying along the way, but keep your dogs on a lead to avoid disturbing wild ground-nesting birds and game birds that are reared in the area. Keep an eye out for abundant pheasants and partridges as you make your way through. Completing this circular walk will take about two to three hours with no stiles or other climbing obstacles - just one narrow metal gate along the route.

Limited off-road parking is available, set your sat nav to RG22 5LU (Fuzzy Drove) to find it.
