Rather than the traditional scrabbling around trying to secure expensive restaurant bookings and effectively sharing your romantic Valentines evening with other couples, why not try something a little different and make use of our VW campervan for hire in Southampton service and whisk your significant other away for a weekend in the VW ‘Hotel’ California.

Fully equipped with a sink, gas hob, fridge heater, two double beds and much more you’ll have everything you need for a cosy romantic getaway.

Camping probably isn’t on the top of your list for a romantic Valentines Day. You are probably thinking damp tents, living off Pringles and a roll-up mat the thickness of a smartphone to sleep on. Doesn’t sound very ‘Romantic’ does it? Well, it doesn’t have to be this way.

We think we should ask VW to change ‘Campervan’ to ‘Glampervan’!, Hiring one of our VW California from Southampton Campers you get the best of both worlds. You get to enjoy nature and go where you please in ultimate comfort and with all mod cons at your fingertips!

Just open up the side door and let the beautiful scenery flood in whilst you are keeping warm and comfortable with the on board ‘central heating’ all the while knowing the fizz is chilling in the 40l fridge.

This is glamping in comfort, the ultimate romantic Valentine’s gift. Book now and surprise your loved one with a Valentine’s camping trip and enjoy a bottle of fizz and chocolates on us.

ENJOYING NATURE

Romantic views are sure to bring you closer together whilst you sit together and gaze at the scenery. The undulating hillside, the clear skies…it’s sure to make you think about the future together as a couple and all the exciting plans you can make with each other at your side.

Pilot Hill is Hampshire’s highest point, reaching proudly to 297 metres. Situated 7 miles southwest of Newbury on the Hampshire border it features many trails for you to enjoy. The summit will reward you with fantastic views over the county and a chance to explore the Iron Age fort of Walbury Camp.

A bit closer to home (well at least ours) is Butser Hill, not quite up to the stature of Pilot Hill at only 271 metres so you can have a little rest! Part of the Queen Elizabeth Country Park and situated only 3 miles from the Historic market town of Petersfield, on a clear day it is possible to see 5 counties from the top. If you are feeling adventurous then cycle trails and horse trails are nearby.

For a coastal take we recommend the stunning views of Durdle Door.

Breathing in the fresh country air and submerging yourself in the glorious landscape is enough in itself to help you relax with your loved one. But for the more adventurous, the sandy beaches and mineral sea set against the looming Jurassic coast is a breath taking site to behold. Durdle Door is iconic and mysterious and simply stunning with the setting sun.

BEING CREATIVE

Learning new skills can be fun and productive and as it’s Valentines then why not make some chocolate treats together? Le Salon Du Chocolat offers a specially designed purpose built studio room where you can learn the art and craft of Chocolataire.

Priding themselves with using real exquisite Belgian Chocolate you will learn how to craft and blend the ingredients into deliciously handcrafted confectionery. Located in Chichester please contact Le Salon Du Chocolat here for more information.

The VW California campervan has lots of equipment including; a fridge, a two ring hob, a sink with running water and a fold-out table that makes a decent prep area. With the roof popped up, you can stand easily and comfortably prepare a romantic meal for two. We’d prefer to make a simple but tasty dish and seafood has to be the food of love for our choice. Shrimp Puttanesca with green pitted olives.

Ingredients: 2 portions of linguine, 1 tsp lemon zest, 2 tsp lemon juice, peeled shrimps (large), pitted Kalamata olives, 1 small chopped red chilli (seeded), parsley, grated Parmesan, cherry tomatoes (halved), 2 anchovies (finely chopped), 1 tbsp olive oil.

Directions: Cook the pasta al dente and drain. Toss in the lemon zest, lemon juice and chilli and cover.

Heat the olive oil on a frying pan and add the shrimp, tomatoes and anchovies. Cook until the tomatoes burst and the shrimps are opaque throughout, turning the shrimps occasionally to prevent charring.

Along with the olives and parsley add back to the covered pasta pot. Add some Parmesan shavings and a little olive oil and gently toss to combine the ingredients. Serve with a little wine (or a lot) from the fridge and enjoy.

BRING THE OUTSIDE, IN

If the weather is kind and smiling down on you then perhaps you can enjoy your lovingly prepared meal al-fresco, after all this is one of the perks of choosing a campervan. Those clever Germans have ingeniously hidden away an outdoor table and chair set so that you can sit outside in comfort. Extend the built-in awning for a bit of cover and to make it more intimate.

MUSIC MAESTRO

Some famous bloke once said, “If music be the food of love, play on". Who are we to think any different? We ticked the options list for a fancy audio system so you can link your smartphone to the speakers and play your favourite Spotify Valentine playlist or bring your own SD card and plug that straight in.

Everyone has their own personal favourite songs, however if you get stuck, you can find some inspiration here https://bestlifeonline.com/romantic-songs/
